Spore Computer Game

Spore is quite possibly one of the greatest games available today.  The day I got it I became addicted, no joke.  I accidentally stayed up until 3:30 this morning playing Spore.  The game offers a combination of RPG and RTS, along with one of the greatest character customizations engines ever.  The character creator is so detailed and intuitive at the same time, I can’t even begin to explain how in depth it is.

You begin (if you choose) as a single celled organism starting off it’s life in the primordial ooze of a planet of your choice, struggling to survive by eating other cells or eating microscopic plant life, dodging larger carnivorous cells, or beefing yourself up and destroying cells in direct competition with you.  Once you’ve unlocked a few cell evolutionary upgrades you’re ready to sprout some legs and start a new journey onto land!

The evolution that takes place on land is the real part of the game, from physical evolution to the evolution of tribes, civilizations, and empires.  If I were to explain the entire game, this article would probably turn into a novel.  The space age, to me, is where the real action begins.  Interacting with other species via the stars, making trade routes, doing missions, colonizing planets (a whole process unto itself) waging intergalactic war, and making mad money (sporebucks), are all part of the space age game.

To those of you looking to read an article about the game to decide whether you want it or not, just get it, as long as your not looking for an FPS game, this game will rock your world and provide near endless hours of entertainment.  You can look me up on the sporepedia under the name Skonix, I have a few creations posted, feel free to comment on them or use them for your own via downloading them.  I will throw something else up on here so those interested can see my Sporecast(s).

Well, I forgot my glasses in class today, and I sit in the back unfortunately, so this is what I decided to do.  Now that class is almost done, I’m out, enjoy Spore!

Windows Mojave Spoof — Chris Farley

When I was searching youtube for the mojave experiment video, I came across this hilarious spoof.  I couldn’t stop laughing because in all likelyhood, some of the “testers” may have felt this way.  I love Chris Farley, take a look.

Windows Mojave Experiment

I love both Macs and PCs, and I enjoy using both the Windows operating system(s) and the Mac operating system(s).  But I was getting sick and tired of hearing people whine and whine and WHINE about how crappy vista is, when 90% of these people never even used it!  I used Vista and seriously I had no problems with it.  Dare I say?…It was a good operating system?!  The only thing that made Vista bad was the dipshit users not knowing that Vista actually makes things easier for you, and fanatical Mac users who would trash the system and spread false rumors over the web like wildfire.  I leave Linux users out of this because, well, I feel Linux users are pretty neutral.

Microsoft shared in my frustration, so they set out to prove that everything you heard was bullshit (accept for the fact it DOES use more memory, but thats expected with a new and more advanced OS).  They took a bunch of people that didn’t use Vista because of what they heard from other people, sat them down, and had them use the new “Windows Mojave”.

In the end Microsoft wants us all to know one thing.  Make up your own mind about Vista by giving it a chance, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised.  Again I have no qualms with any other operating systems, I use both Windows and Leopard (Mac OS) on a daily basis and enjoy using both of them.  I was just sick of hearing people whine, cry, and trash Vista, when all they did was hear bad things about it and never used it themselves.  Here is their intro video to The Mojave Experiment.

Freeware Web Games — Instant Action!

This is what I do, I fiddle around on the web and find stuff.  Often times I stumble upon some REALLY cool freeware that I want others to know about, and this is a perfect way for me to do it!  In this post I’m throwin out some very cool freeware I found on the web.  Its called Instant Action, it is a great gaming center for those who like free games online.  These games are pretty high quality, and yes, as I said, the games are free.  This is not your run-of-the-mill ”addicting games” type website, these games have great graphics, great gameplay, and most are multiplayer. You CAN pay them for extra content, but so far no money is required.

My favorite game on there so far is Legions, its a lot like the original Tribes game, if any of you can remember it.  There are several playable games on there right now, so choose your favorite type and play away with others on the net.  Their website states “The next BIG thing in web gaming”, and I don’t think that is far from the truth, you’ve not seen anything like it before, I love it personally, so give it a shot, and leave a comment on here and tell me what you think!

Movie Entertainment — MyVu Personal Media Viewer

I was reading through RollingStones magazine a couple weeks ago and I saw an interesting add for something I’ve never seen before.  Its called the MyVu Person Media Viewer, it pretty much plays a movie for you in a pair of sunglasses.  They are pretty chic in terms of style (NOW we know why Jordy LaForge wore them in Star Trek!), and apparently MyVu uses certain crystal viewer technology in their devices.

These things certainly look like the next wave in future personal media.  The price at the moment is pretty steep ($300 USD), but as they come down within the next couple of years I’d expect to see more people on planes, trains, and buses with them.  Now even though you can’t exactly see through this device, one thing it does offer is the ability to look down at the video playing on your viewer, so when you look straight ahead you can see what is going around you still.  They can be plugged into almost any brand name portable media device, which gives it some great utility.

However cool these things are though, some people may take it too far, as stated on their website “When you own a pair of Myvu Crystal glasses, you can get up close and personal with the action on your Apple iPod’s screen.”- Cincinnati Enquirer ” …how up close and “personal” do you really need to get with your ipod…seriously?  What the hell is going on in your ipod that makes it so friggin awesome you need to use this device to get “up close and personal” with it?  We’ve got enough people touching themselves at library computers thank you, lets not spread it to planes and buses (I omitted trains because…well, lets face it, the battle for trains was lost along with libraries).

Overall though these do seem like some pretty awesome gadgets to take care of some of lifes dullest moments, and we’ll probably be seing lots of them sooner rather than later.  Eventually we’ll probably see computers in the form of crystal view devices as well, but that might be a tad farthur off…or is it?
